Health
Lack of medical resources has lasting impact on the lives of many people. Mortality rates can be reduced by good medical provision. Lack of basic medicine and basic equipment can result in death. Some medical conditions can be prevented or managed in the long term by availability of equipment such as BP machines and glucometers. Unless someone knows they have high blood pressure or they are diabetic they would not be on the medication to control these conditions. Those on medication already cannot be monitored appropriately neither due to lack of medical equipment. Some communities including children are suffering because they are poor. People die from conditions that can be prevented such as heart conditions, diarrhoea and pneumonia. We know that the right nutrition to child prevents malnutrition and the risk of developing disease.
Access to toilets and safe water is crucial in prevention of water borne disease. Sanitation, water and hygiene affect many. Some marginalised communities don’t have clean water to drink, decent toilets or hygiene. They walk very long distances collect clean water. Some children miss school as they go out to collect water. When you help us to dig a well, install boreholes, build toilets you are giving hope to these communities. These are some of the solutions to dealing with effects of poverty.
Period poverty
Provision of sanitary pads to the young girls at school is making a huge difference. Teachers have at times left with no option than to send girls back home when they spoil themselves due to period poverty. You can help us to deal with this.
